Terms One and Two - February to June
Rock Climbing
Using the school’s new indoor climbing wall and outdoor natural rock formations. This module includes a three-day expedition.
Leadership at Junior Camps
Senior students with leadership potential are given the opportunity to lead activities on Year 7 camp, a three-day residential camp based in the Craigieburn range. Activities include rock climbing, flat water kayaking, caving and mountain biking.
Tramping
Each term a three-day tramp is completed, based in and around Arthur's Pass.
River Crossing
A comprehensive river crossing course is completed using the Waimakariri river.
Mountain Biking
Basic mountain biking skills are taught throughout Term 2. Students build on their skills, completing a three-day mountain bike expedition from Lake Taylor to Oxford.
Terms Three and Four - July to December
Skiing and Snowboarding
Weekly, half-day, mid-week programme for Term Three, including coaching from beginners to racers. Weekend passes available.
Leadership at Junior Camps
Three-day camps at Mount Hutt Retreat or Spencer Park. Skills include orienteering, challenges, camping, mountain biking, archery, high ropes, surfing and wind surfing.
Nordic Skiing
Five-day residential programme with skills, instruction, snow mounding and basic mountaineering skills. Based at Wanaka’s snow farm.
First Aid Course
With an accredited provider.
