Enrolment process for in-zone domestic students

Prior to enrolment families may wish to visit the school, meet with the Principal or get further information. This can be booked through the office.

Process during the year for all students and start of year for years 8-13

  • Enrolment pack collected or posted from Student Administrator
  • Completed enrolment forms submitted to Student Administrator with documentation for verification
  • Student Administrator notifies Guidance Counsellor that correct enrolment documentation has been received
  • Guidance Counsellor contacts previous school to obtain transition information
  • Induction meeting scheduled by Guidance Counsellor
    • At meeting or later as required and as staff are available: 
      • Tour of school
      • Introduced to Principal
      • DP consulted for option choice
      • Dean consulted for form class and buddy
      • Bus information from bus controller
      • SENCO consulted where special learning needs identified. IEP may need to be scheduled.
      • Book uniform fitting and purchase
      • Start date agreed (one full day for processing usually required)
  • Student summary information emailed to all teachers by Guidance Counsellor
  • Enrolment details, form class, bus info, house entered to MUSAC by Student Administrator prior to start date.
  • Option choices entered on Timetable by DP
  • Network manager sets up email, network login, print balance.
  • On start day met by Guidance Counsellor during the year or Dean at start of year
    • Meet buddy
    • Issued Diary, Timetable, network login and told the house they are in.
    • Go to class
  • Transfer of student entered on ENROL by student administrator
  • ID photograph is taken and loaded to MUSAC by administration assistant.

 Process for start of year – Year 7

  1. Enrolment packs delivered to contributing schools or available from office
  2. Open evening held mid September
  3. Completed enrolment forms submitted
  4. Transition info gathered from contributing schools by SENCO and Year 7 Dean
  5. Form classes assembled
  6. New entrants day Early December
  7. Induction Day late Jan / early Feb

Verification of in-zone enrolment requirements

  • In-zone address confirmation
    • Power or phone bill with name and address or
    • Sale and purchase or rental agreement showing name and address
    • With the permission of the Principal the enrolment application can be further processed whilst awaiting documentation

Primary evidence of eligibility to enrol

The school can provide details of the variety of eligibility criteria exist but the most common ones are listed below.

  • Domestic student (permanent)
    • NZ Birth certificate or NZ Passport or NZ citizenship certificate or NZ residence class visa stamp
    • Domestic student (time bound)
      • Valid student visa with conditions containing “Domestic Student”
      • International student
      • Valid student visa with conditions of study that includes the name of the school
