Director of International Students

Judy is responsible for the overall management and marketing of the International Department as well as the academic and pastoral welfare of all our international students. She has a background in business administration and teaching with a special interest in International Students.

     
 

Miss Sarah Rawson - BTchLn
Homestay Services Co-ordinator

Sarah manages all aspects of our Homestay Service, including meeting students at the airport, introducing them to their host families, monitoring host families and meeting regularly with students to ensure they are being well cared for. Sarah has a background in teaching and is passionate about working alongside young people.

     
 

Mrs Shona Staddon
Finance Assistant

Shona manages financial matters for the International Department as well as students’ school accounts. She arranges Offers of Place, invoices and applying for or renewing student visas. Shona also assists students with school stationery and any other matters requiring financial advice. Shona has a background in banking and administration.

     
 

Miss Sumi Hayakawa, BA Hons, DipTchg, Cert Japanese Language
Teacher of Japanese and International Student Liaison

Miss Hayakawa has been at Darfield High School for over 13 years. She has extensive involvement with, and understanding of our international students’ needs and she is highly respected by them. She also provides valuable assistance and information between Selwyn District Council, the community and Darfield High School in respect of sister city Council and School exchanges.






Mrs Luisa Dogin
ESOL Teacher Aide

Students who need English language support in mainstream classes are assisted by Luisa who also has two sons attending Darfield High School. Luisa is fluent in three languages and therefore understands the need for support and assistance when learning a new language. She is also very aware of the issues new students face in respect of living and studying in a different culture and environment, and she provides understanding and empathy in a very caring way.
