Our School

Vision &
Values

Our school’s vision is inclusive, practical and inspiring.

“Every student will enjoy their experience and the community will be proud of their school” – we want every student to enjoy their time in our school because a positive experience of school leads to better learning. And why shouldn’t we all enjoy our schooling? When a community is proud of its school, it brings benefits for everyone in the school and the wider community.

“Students will develop the capabilities, knowledge and values they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives and to contribute positively to their communities” – we recognise that a good education means qualifications and a range of qualities that people need to do well in their lives. Our community wants their children to grow up as good people and we’re privileged to contribute to that aim.

Our values complement each other to create a culture that students and staff enjoy and thrive in. We’ve drawn on Māori concepts because they’re a better match for us than single English words.

Manaakitanga

Manaakitanga, which we define as “respect and care for others”, is our foundational value. We’re affirming that every person possesses mana and deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and valued for who they are.

Kotahitanga

Kotahitanga, which we refer to as “unite our community”, emphasises the strength of unity through diversity, encouraging the school community—which includes around 840 students, 100 staff, and over 1,000 connected whānau—to learn from and support one another.

Kaitiakitanga

Through Kaitiakitanga, which we define as “look after our future”, we’re reminded that our actions today shape our futures – both individually and the world around us.

Rangatiratanga

Our paramount value, Rangatiratanga, which we define as “become your best you”, draws on all of our values and challenges us to intentionally navigate our own paths, seize opportunities, and equip ourselves for “take-off” with personal leadership and growth.
